Four factors required to meet a de facto or spousal relationship
1. Financial aspects of the relationship
Documents which show any jointly owned land, property and/or houses, joint mortgages, joint leases, cars, insurances, shares, securities, loans, bills, bank accounts, bank cards and/or credit cards
Wills, superannuation, loans, power of attorney which name your de facto partner or spouse as a benefactor
2. Nature of the household
Documents which show any joint responsibility for children
Correspondences and/or documents (either joint or individually addressed) for any past and current addresses you have shared together
Statements from each of you about the history and development of your relationship
3. Social aspects of the relationship
Registering your de facto relationship with an Australian state or territory (only available in selected states or territories in Australia)
Marriage certificate
Statements from family and friends regarded your genuine and continuing relationship
Evidence of club memberships, churches, gym, hobbies and/or interests you are both attend
Evidence which shows any holidays, trips and/or photos anywhere you have taking together
4. Nature of the persons’ commitment to one other
Correspondences and/or documents (either joint or individually addressed) from the beginning of your relationship or when you first started living together to present
Evidence you maintained contact with one another during any periods of temporarily living apart
Statements from each of you about the history and development of your relationship
